A daily meditation practice

A regular meditation practice primes the brain to become familiar with a stillness, a settled quietude and equanimity. This priming cultivates a capacity to be or reside in that stillness, even while all around you is disquiet, busy, or chaotic.

The ability to quickly and easily return to that space of stillness at will enables and allows for decisions, behavior, thoughts and emotions to be grounded in compassion and appropriate responsiveness.

A meditation practice creates and reinforces the neural pathways required to arrive there, in stillness of mind, in the same way that practice of anything (eg a profession, craft, dancing, playing an instrument, driving, cooking, sports, acting) cultivates mastery that becomes embodied – somatically and viscerally – so you are free to be responsive and creative, with care, brightness and ease.
